Erica Stocking | Artist Talk
November 2 | 2–3pm | Room 120 at Surrey Libraries-City Centre
All ages welcome, free event, refreshments will be served
Stocking will be talking about her recently completed public artwork, Blankets. Installed on the roof of the West Village Park and Energy Centre, Blankets is a fibreglass sculpture of three blankets arranged in different configurations (folded, draped, and wrapped).
The sculptures respond to the purpose of the building: to provide energy and warmth to the City Centre neighbourhood.
The artist will talk about her process in creating this artwork and its association with hearth and home. She will also discuss the 50 woven blankets that were distributed to the community and serve as a companion piece to the sculpture.
This event is presented by Surrey’s Public Art Program.
