Jolene Mackie | Solo Exhibition in Vancouver

Kelowna-based artist Jolene Mackie (BFA, 2009) will be participating in her first solo exhibition in Vancouver at Omega Gallery from June 26 to July 31, 2015.

The exhibit, Beyond the Scenery asks…

Have you ever dreamed about lying on soft clouds slowly swaying cross dim moonlight? Emptying your turbid mind, you are drifting aimlessly like snatches of melody rippling in the breeze. Sailing in our galaxy, we all wish to be taking an adventure alone from shimmering morning to starring night. The crystal-clear lake brings you back to the very beginning of life, linking your mind, body and spirit with peaceful nature.

Mackie’s works are inspired by both imaged and actual landscapes, and by expending her imagination with simplicity of childish fantasy. She explores the idea of searching for joy and whimsy beyond the existence of natural beauty, and sets up a gateway to invite audiences to participate in the sweet reverie created through her practice and eventually become a part of her body of work.
